HighStone Help Documentation

Introduction

This section details the format and style used to prepare and create the HighStone Help system.

HighStone uses the Application Doc-To-Help to collate and build the Help system.  This uses as a source a series of Word Documents - each formatted to a generic Style that creates the Topic Headings and links.  The Word Documents include additional hidden controls added by the Application.  It is a simple task to add and upgrade an external Word document to the system - the task is even easier if the general outline of Headings is adopted.

With the introduction of Doc-To-Help 2009 the base file formats are likely to be upgraded to a custom HTML format - as these are supported better by this version of Doc-To-Help.  It is possible to upgrade Word Documents in to the new format when required.

The Help System is created in a 'Net Help' format - a web-based page delivery using in-built java script to provide the functional control.  The Help System is viewed through a standard browser - such as Internet Explorer, or Firefox.  This format is best suited to corporate distribution through an Intranet, and can also be accessed from Claremont Controls Limited web site.

The starting HTML file for the Help Introduction page is default.htm within the Host Folder for the HighStone Help System.  Some browsers will open this file automatically if just the parent Folder is specified.

The HighStone Help is also hosted at the following Claremont Controls web site:
